Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to join our small team at Dumbell House family assessment centre.
You will be working closely with the centre's Registered Manager, Assessing Social Worker and Family Support Workers.
The working hours for this role is Monday-Friday 8am-4pm.
There would also be on-call duties covering evenings, nights and weekends.
Responsibilities
1. Support the Centre Manager in the day-to-day running of the family assessment centre
2. Assist in the supervision, training, and development of family support workers
3. Conduct regular staff meetings and provide guidance and support to team members
4. Monitor and maintain high standards of care, support, and record-keeping
5. Liaise with social services, local authorities, and other relevant professionals
6. Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies, procedures, and legislation
7. Assist in the development and implementation of centre policies and procedures
8. Oversee the maintenance of a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained centre environment
9. Promote diversity, equality, and anti-discriminatory practice within the centre
10. Deputise for the Centre Manager in their absence, ensuring smooth operation of the centre
11. Participate in the on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support when required
12. Contribute to the continuous improvement of service delivery and family outcomes
Experience
1. At least 3 years' experience in a residential family support setting, with at least 1 year in a senior or supervisory role
2. Strong understanding of child protection, safeguarding, and relevant legislation
3. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
4. Proven ability to mentor, motivate, and develop staff
5. Resilience, empathy, and the ability to manage complex and challenging situations
6. Strong organisational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
7. Proficient in record-keeping, report writing, and IT skills
8. Flexible approach to work, including the ability to work shifts and on-call duties
