Overview
BDPM Group Ltd is a growing construction procurement and project procurement support. company working with Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 contractors, developers, local authorities and councils throughout the UK.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Commercial & Tendering Manager to support our pre-construction activities, subcontractor engagement, and tender management processes. This role is ideal for someone with a strong construction background who understands tendering, estimating, subcontractor management, and commercial processes, but who is not necessarily looking for a traditional full-time Quantity Surveying role.
This position will play a key role in ensuring all project enquiries are thoroughly reviewed, quality checked, and prepared for pricing by our subcontractor network.
Key Responsibilities
- Tender Review & Quality Control
- Review incoming project enquiries, drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
- Ensure tender packages contain all relevant information required for accurate
- pricing.
- Identify missing information, discrepancies, risks and clarification requirements.
- Identify all applicable trades and work packages associated with each project.
- Ensure enquiries are fit for purpose before being issued to subcontractors.
- Act as a quality control point for all pre-construction and tender documentation.
Estimating and Commercial Support
- Assist with pricing and estimating activities where required.
- Review project scopes and commercial requirements.
- Support the preparation of competitive and accurate tender submissions.
- Provide commercial input and recommendations during tender reviews.
- Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost efficiencies.
Subcontractor Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and supply chain partners.
- Respond confidently to technical and commercial questions relating to tender packages.
- Act as the main point of contact for subcontractor enquiries.
- Review subcontractor quotations and provide detailed feedback where required.
- Liaise with subcontractors to obtain clarifications, revised pricing and alternative
- solutions.
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain professional relationships with Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 contractors, developers, councils and other clients.
- Represent BDPM Group professionally in meetings and communications.
- Support business development activities through excellent client and supply chain
- engagement.
- Help strengthen BDPM Group’s reputation within the construction industry.
Team Support and Development
- Play a key role in the development and growth of BDPM Group’s in-house Quantity Surveying (QS) team, helping to establish best practices, processes, systems and commercial standards.
- Support the ongoing development of BDPM Group’s commercial and pre-construction processes.
- Assist in developing internal estimating and commercial capabilities.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business.
- Share industry knowledge and best practices to support team growth.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities and contribute positively to company culture.
Requirements
Essential
- Experienced with CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system e.g Salesforce, Zoho, SAP, etc.
- Significant experience within the UK construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Experience reviewing project scopes and subcontractor quotations.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to confidently engage with subcontractors, contractors and clients.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of construction pricing.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude, enthusiasm and willingness to contribute to a growing business.
Desirable
- Experience in estimating, procurement, pre-construction or quantity surveying.
- Existing relationships within the UK construction supply chain.
- Experience working with Tier 1 contractors, developers or local authorities.
- Construction-related qualifications.
Location
Maidstone.
Hours of Work
Monday - Friday 9 am to 3 pm.
