The role
Southern Housing is looking for an Employee Relations Advisor to join our People team on Fixed Term Basis/Secondment until 11th of December 2026. Reporting to the Lead Employee Relations Manager, you will support ER casework, sickness absence management, administration and people-related projects across the organisation.
What you’ll be doing:
- Providing first-line guidance to managers and colleagues on policies, procedures and terms and conditions
- Supporting low-level ER casework, including sickness absence, conduct, capability and grievance matters
- Preparing letters, documentation, absence data and case files
- Booking and supporting formal ER meetings, including notetaking
- Tracking ER cases and responding to queries through the shared inbox and Fusion ticket service
- Supporting ET3 documentation collation and wider people change projects
- Maintaining the People Business Partnering and ER intranet page
- Working positively with recognised trade unions and colleague forums
This role will be based at our main office in Farringdon and may require visits to our main offices when needed. This role operates in a hybrid way when appropriate and as agreed with your manager.
What you’ll need:
- Previous experience working in an HR team
- Good knowledge of UK employment legislation
- Experience advising managers on people matters, particularly employee relations
- CIPD Level 3 or equivalent experience
- Strong communication, organisation and time management skills
- Good Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
Experience using ResourceLink or a CIPD Level 5 qualification would be helpful but isn’t essential.
