The Three Wishes is a cosy, family-run bistro café in the heart of historic Sherborne, Dorset. We are passionate about honest, quality food made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Working alongside our Head Chef, our kitchen team crafts everything from hearty breakfasts and seasonal lunch specials to homemade cakes and pastries, served to our welcoming community every day.
The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Sous Chef to join our small, close-knit kitchen team. You will work directly with our Head Chef to deliver consistently excellent food across our breakfast and lunch service, helping to maintain the high standards and warm, homemade feel that our regulars love.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef in the daily preparation and service of our full menu, including breakfasts, light bites, mains, and daily specials
- Lead the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, maintaining quality and consistency
- Prepare fresh, house-made dishes including sauces, soups, baked goods, and seasonal specials using locally sourced produce
- Assist in menu development and the creation of weekly specials that reflect seasonal availability
- Uphold excellent food hygiene and kitchen safety standards (Food Hygiene Level 2 minimum required)
- Manage prep schedules and help oversee stock control, ordering, and minimising waste
- Help maintain a positive, efficient, and supportive kitchen environment
About You
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Senior Chef de Partie, or similar role in a café, bistro, or restaurant setting
- Confident preparing quality British food with an emphasis on fresh, seasonal ingredients
- Passionate about local produce and homemade cooking
- Organised, calm under pressure, and reliable
- A team player with good communication skills
- Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate (or willingness to obtain)
