We are looking for a reliable, caring, and hardworking Housekeeper to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene and enjoys working in a care setting where they can make a positive difference to residents' daily lives.
This is a part-time position working 18 hours per week across 3 x 6-hour shifts, with alternate weekends required (both Saturday and Sunday on your working weekend). The successful candidate will work closely with the management team and care staff to ensure our home remains clean, safe, and welcoming for residents, visitors, and colleagues.
The key responsibilities:
Housekeeping & Cleaning
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation throughout the home
- Ensure all communal areas, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and service areas are cleaned in accordance with company procedures
- Remove refuse and ensure all areas remain fresh, hygienic, and free from unpleasant odours
- Follow cleaning schedules and complete daily housekeeping tasks efficiently
- Use cleaning products and equipment safely and appropriately
Laundry & Linen Management
- Wash, dry, iron, and store residents' clothing and household linen
- Ensure residents' personal clothing and belongings are handled with care and respect
- Maintain laundry areas in a clean, organised, and safe condition
Resident Support
- Respect residents' privacy, dignity, independence, choice, and individual preferences at all times
- Work alongside care and support teams to help create a comfortable and welcoming home environment
- Observe and report any concerns relating to residents or the environment to management
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times
- Comply with Health and Safety regulations, COSHH requirements, fire safety procedures, and emergency protocols
- Support the home's commitment to safeguarding vulnerable adults
- Attend mandatory training, supervision sessions, and team meetings as required
- Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by management to support the smooth running of the service
What we are looking for:
Essential:
- Knowledge of cleaning standards and professional housekeeping procedures
- Understanding of infection prevention and control practices
- Awareness of Health and Safety requirements, including COSHH and safe working practices
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and the importance of protecting vulnerable adults
- Knowledge of laundry procedures and handling personal clothing and linen
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards
- Flexible approach to work, including alternate weekend working
- Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work as part of a team
Desirable:
- Previous housekeeping, cleaning, or domestic experience within a care home, healthcare, hospitality, or similar environment
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, professional manner
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
