Job Overview
Justteachers are seeking a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to support classroom teachers and enhance the learning experience of pupils within a primary school setting. The successful candidate will work closely with children, including those with special educational needs, to foster an inclusive and nurturing environment. Duties
- Assist the classroom teacher in delivering lessons and activities tailored to pupils' individual needs
- Support children with special educational needs, including those with autism or disabilities, ensuring they are fully included in classroom activities
- Provide one-to-one tutoring and mentoring to pupils who require additional academic or behavioural support
- Help manage behaviour and promote positive interactions among pupils
- Prepare learning materials and resources as directed by the teacher
- Support pupils during break times, lunch periods, and excursions to ensure their safety and well-being
- Foster a supportive environment that encourages confidence, independence, and social development among pupils
- Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting any concerns to the class teacher or SENCO
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting is desirable
- Experience supporting individuals with disabilities or special educational needs is advantageous
- Knowledge of working with children on the autism spectrum or with other specific needs is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff
- Previous tutoring or mentoring experience will be considered an asset
- A genuine passion for education, patience, and strong organisational skills are essential for success in this role
