About Us
Harry Batten Cakes is an independent bakery in Burgess Hill specialising in bespoke celebration cakes. We're a small, friendly team and we take pride in everything that comes out of our kitchen.
The Role
We're looking for a reliable kitchen assistant to join us this summer, Tuesday to Friday, 4pm–6pm. Your main duties will be washing up and keeping the kitchen clean and tidy at the end of the working day, with occasional practical tasks such as cutting butter or helping with simple prep work as needed.
It's a small but important role — a clean, organised kitchen makes everything run more smoothly, and we genuinely value the people who keep it that way.
This is a summer role with the possibility of becoming permanent for the right person.
What the Work Involves
- Washing up and keeping the kitchen clean and organised
- Ensuring equipment and surfaces are properly cleaned at the end of each day
- Occasional practical tasks such as cutting butter or simple food prep
- Keeping an eye out for anything that needs restocking or attention
What We're Looking For
- Reliable and punctual — we're a small team and we count on each other
- A good eye for cleanliness and detail
- A willing, can-do attitude
- Comfortable working in a busy kitchen environment
- Previous kitchen or hospitality experience is helpful but not essential
The Details
Hours: Tuesday to Friday, 4pm–6pm (8 hours per week)
Pay: National Minimum Wage
Location: Our bakery in Burgess Hill. This is an in-person role.
