Castell Howell Foods is Wales’ leading independent food service wholesaler, servicing the length and breadth of Wales, the Border Counties and the South West of England. We currently have a vacancy for a Sales Development & Support Coordinator based in Cross Hands.
You will play a key role in helping the business identify and convert opportunities that might otherwise go unnoticed. Working alongside Regional Managers, Business Development Managers and Telesales teams, you will help turn customer insight into meaningful action, supporting both sales growth and customer retention.
We are looking for commercially minded individuals who enjoy building relationships, identifying opportunities and making things happen. Using customer insight, sales trends and our online sales tools, you will identify opportunities such as declining spend, lost product sales, untapped product categories and competitor threats. Supported by the wider Commercial Team, you will take ownership of these opportunities, helping to convert them into additional sales and stronger customer relationships.
Whilst the role is office-based, this is one of its greatest strengths. Without the limitations of travel, you will have the opportunity to engage with a significantly larger number of customer accounts than would typically be possible in a field sales position. This enables greater involvement in opportunity development, customer retention, quotation activity and sales growth initiatives across the business. As this is a newly developed role, successful candidates will have the opportunity to help shape the function, influence how it operates and play an important part in its future success.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Development & Customer Retention
- Identify and develop growth opportunities within existing customer accounts.
- Contact customers directly to discuss opportunities and account development initiatives.
- Support customer retention and lost sales recovery activity.
- Promote product penetration and category growth opportunities.
- Work closely with Regional Managers, Sales Representatives and Telesales teams to convert opportunities into sales.
Quotations & Commercial Support
- Produce quotations, product comparisons and commercial proposals.
- Support pricing requests and customer business reviews.
- Prepare account reviews and opportunity reports.
- Produce competitor comparisons and commercial recommendations.
Sales Support & Coordination
- Maintain opportunity trackers and customer development plans.
- Coordinate follow-up actions and customer opportunities.
- Support onboarding and account implementation activity.
- Act as a link between Sales, Telesales and the Commercial Team.
Skills & Experience:
Essential
- Strong commercial awareness and customer focus.

- Ability to identify opportunities and turn them into actions.
- Good Microsoft Office skills.
Desirable
- Experience in sales, telesales, account development or commercial support.
- Experience within wholesale, foodservice, FMCG or retail sectors.
- Experience producing quotations, proposals or customer reviews.
- Experience using CRM, ERP or reporting systems.

- A full-time position working Monday-Friday 09:00-17:30 (37.5 hours).
