Overview
A professional family based in Cobham is seeking an experienced Housekeeper / Family Cook to assist with the smooth day-to-day running of their detached five-bedroom home.
This is a full-time role combining high-standard housekeeping with family cooking and general household support. Housekeeping will form the core of the position, whilst the successful candidate will also be responsible for planning, shopping for and preparing fresh family dinners each weekday.
The family enjoys good food and is looking for somebody who genuinely enjoys cooking, shopping for fresh produce and preparing a variety of nutritious meals from scratch. They enjoy a wide range of cuisines and are looking for somebody who takes pride in creating delicious, home-cooked food. The family has two older children aged 15 and 16 who are fully independent, meaning the role is almost entirely focused on housekeeping and household support rather than childcare.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, organised, and happy to work independently, taking ownership of their responsibilities and approaching the role with a positive, flexible attitude. The family is looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership of a home and is happy to turn their hand to whatever needs doing to keep the household running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Housekeeping
- Cleaning and maintaining the home to a high standard
- Laundry and ironing
- Wardrobe management and putting clothing away
- Changing bed linen and making beds
- Household organisation
- Maintaining high standards throughout the property
Cooking & Food Preparation
- Planning weekly menus and preparing fresh family dinners each weekday
- Grocery shopping and purchasing fresh produce
- Preparing healthy, home-cooked meals from scratch
- Maintaining kitchen cleanliness, organisation and food storage
Household Support
- Shopping for household supplies and monitoring stock levels
- Managing household deliveries, parcels and post
- Running household errands as required
- Walking the family dog for approximately 30 minutes each day
- Taking ownership of day-to-day household tasks and identifying what needs attention
- Assisting with additional household tasks as required to support the smooth running of the home
- Monitoring and replenishing household products and supplies
- General housekeeping duties to ensure the smooth running of the household
Requirements
- Previous private household housekeeping experience in a similar role
- Strong cooking skills and confidence in preparing fresh family meals
- Driver with own car
- Comfortable around dogs
- Organised and reliable
- Able to work independently
- Happy taking ownership of the day-to-day running of the home
- Positive, proactive and professional approach
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ideally located within a 30-minute commute, if possible.
