Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and organised Activity Coordinator to enrich the lives of residents in a care home setting. The successful candidate will plan, coordinate, and facilitate engaging activities tailored to the needs of our residents, with a particular focus on senior care, dementia care, and Alzheimer's care. Duties
- Develop and implement a diverse programme of activities suitable for residents with varying needs, including those requiring dementia and Alzheimer's care
- Organise group activities, individual sessions, and special events that encourage participation and socialisation
- Collaborate with care staff to assess residents' interests, abilities, and limitations to personalise activity plans
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to evaluate programme effectiveness
- Foster a warm, welcoming environment that promotes independence and engagement among residents
- Assist in creating a safe environment during activities, ensuring all safety protocols are adhered to
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote awareness of upcoming activities and gather input for programme improvements
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living or nursing home environments is highly desirable
- Proven experience in senior care, dementia care or Alzheimer's care is advantageous
- Background in caregiving or working within a care home setting is preferred
- Excellent communication skills are essential for engaging with residents of diverse needs and backgrounds
- Knowledge of activity planning tailored for older adults with cognitive impairments will be beneficial
- Compassionate approach with the ability to motivate and encourage participation among residents
