About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Responsible Individual (RI) to support the registration, compliance, and governance of children's residential homes. This is a flexible contract role, ideal for an experienced RI or former Registered Manager looking for a part-time consultancy opportunity.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting Ofsted registration processes and ensuring the provider meets all regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the Responsible Individual in accordance with Ofsted regulations.
- Prepare, complete, and submit SC1 and SC2 applications to Ofsted.
- Support the registration of new children's homes.
- Ensure compliance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
- Provide regulatory guidance and governance support to the provider.
- Liaise with Ofsted throughout the registration process and respond to any queries.
- Support the recruitment and appointment of Registered Managers where required.
- Provide advice on policies, procedures, and operational readiness for new homes.
- Conduct oversight visits as required and provide reports and recommendations.
- Ensure the organisation maintains high standards of safeguarding, quality, and compliance.
Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or an equivalent Level 5 qualification) or a higher relevant qualification.
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Registered Manager in an Ofsted-registered children's home.
- Proven experience in successfully setting up and registering at least two children's homes.
- Demonstrable experience completing and submitting SC1 and SC2 applications.
- Strong knowledge of Ofsted registration requirements, inspection frameworks, and relevant legislation.
- Excellent understanding of safeguarding, quality assurance, and children's residential care regulations.
- Strong communication, organisational, and report-writing skills.
Desirable
- Previous experience acting as a Responsible Individual.
- Experience supporting multiple children's homes.
- Experience preparing providers for Ofsted registration and inspections.
