Our client is seeking a Buyer to join their team based in Antrim.
The successful candidate will be able to excel at both the strategic & functional elements of this key role. They will be responsible for some of our key Purchasing commodities, helping to create & implement the overall strategy for same.
Pay Rate: To be confirmed
Working Hours: Monday- Thursday 8.30am – 5.00pm 1/2 hour total of 30 minutes break
Friday 8.30am – 2.30pm 1/2 hour lunch 15 minutes paid tea break
Job Type: Full Time, temporary for 3 months with potential to be longer
Job Criteria:
· Previous experience in buyer or purchasing role.
· Experience in inventory level check of materials
· Knowledge of filling purchase orders
· Organizes purchasing requisitions
· Ability of entering data into databases or other computerized systems to maintain up-to-date supplier and vendor information, to track purchases and the status of orders and deliveries, and to generate purchasing reports and statistics
Job Duties:
ROLE SPECIFIC
· To play a lead role in the formulation & implementation of the strategy for the commodities under their control
· To continually seek improvements in purchasing procedures and methods employed in line with the company’s strategic growth plans.
· To be responsible for supplier interface including contracting, auditing and analysis, selection/de-selection and development.
· To negotiate the keenest prices at the best quality in all dealings with suppliers.
· To liaise with suppliers on a daily basis and develop strong supplier partnerships.
· To liaise closely with all relevant departments as required.
· To manage material costing and all associated material aspects on nominated customer programs.
· To work closely with the materials control department in assuring the timely supply of materials into the company.
· To represent the company at supplier meeting both internal and external as appropriate.
· To travel to nominated trade fairs and vendor premises as and when deemed necessary.
· Contribute to the overall team/departmental strategy.
· Keep abreast of the latest innovations and developments.
· Ensure compliance at all times with company and statutory requirements.
· Participate in the day-to-day activities of the team and work effectively as a team member to ensure continuous improvement.
· Meet performance measures and KPI’s set for you and your team.
· Communicate in a timely and effective manner with members of your team and other parts of the business.
· Participate in training opportunities.
ROLE GENERIC
· Collaborates with the supply chain manager regarding maintaining proper inventory levels of materials used on a regular basis
· Key participant in the filling of purchase orders
· Organizes purchasing requisitions
· Key participant in the development of creating an accurate and efficient monitoring system
· Collaborates on entering data into databases or other computerized systems to maintain up-to-date supplier and vendor information, to track purchases and the status of orders and deliveries, and to generate purchasing reports and statistics
