Bright Sparks Alternative Provision is seeking passionate, flexible and compassionate tutors to join our growing team supporting children and young people who require an alternative approach to education.
We work with learners who may be:
- Autistic, ADHD or PDA
- Experiencing Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)
- Educated Otherwise Than At School (EOTAS)
- Home educated
- Awaiting specialist placements
- Struggling to access mainstream education
- Preparing for adulthood and post-16 pathways
Our approach is relationship-led, trauma-informed and neurodivergent-affirming. We believe that learning happens best when young people feel safe, understood and valued.
The Role
We are looking for tutors to deliver personalised learning programmes either:
- Face-to-face in learners' homes or community settings
- Online
- In small groups
- Through project-based and interest-led learning
Subjects may include:
- English
- Maths
- Functional Skills
- Science
- Primary Curriculum
- GCSE Preparation
- Life Skills
- Preparation for Adulthood
- Employability Skills
- Interest-led Learning
Tutors are encouraged to build learning around each young person's strengths, interests and individual needs.
Mentors will be required to support young people who are not yet ready for formal learning through:
Befriending
Goal setting
Following interests
Community based learning

Essential Requirements
- Teaching qualification, tutoring experience or relevant subject expertise
- Experience working with children and young people
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build trusting and positive relationships
- Commitment to safeguarding and inclusion
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
- Ability to work independently and adapt to individual learner needs
Desirable Experience
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- SEND experience
- Autism and ADHD understanding
- PDA-informed practice
- Alternative Provision experience
- Functional Skills delivery
- GCSE delivery
- Trauma-informed practice
- Mental health awareness
- EOTAS or home education experience
Pay
Current tutor rates start from £35 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications and the nature of the provision being delivered.

Mentoring rates start from £20 per hour.

Pay: £20.00-£40.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
