Overview
Erodatools is a small family run engineering business based in Penistone, South Yorkshire. We supply sub-contract CNC milling and turning and EDM Wire and Spark erosion services to a wide variety of industries. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Machine Shop Manager to join us at our Penistone location to lead and develop our CNC machining department and oversee quality.
Ideally an applicant will have at least 5 years of experience in milling/turning and within a supervisory role. The successful candidate will have gained experience in people management, time management, planning, knowledge of production methods, fault finding, quality and customer satisfaction.
The role will be overseeing the daily operations of a busy machine shop. You will be preparing machining quotes, liaising with customers and suppliers and will lead a small team of skilled machinists in a collaborative and productive work environment to ensure efficient, high-quality output and adherence to safety standards. You will have excellent communication skills. Knowledge of and commitment to the company’s aims and objectives as outlined in the ISO standard and be able to communicate these effectively to team members.
Duties
- Manage, support, guide and sanction Machine Shop team members in their charge
- Collaborate with team members and other managers to meet production targets through production planning to maintain workflow efficiency, leading by example.
- Building customer base and quoting Machine Shop enquiries, inputting information onto Progress Plus system and follow these leads up where applicable (training can be given). This may involve visiting new customers (together with CNC Machinist if needed) to promote Erodatools Ltd.
- Control material purchasing and delivery ensuring compliance with the relevant specifications and certification requirements.
- Quality control – oversee inspection in the machine shop and be a point of contact for double checking sparking and wiring jobs as required by Operations Director.
- Previous knowledge of Progress Plus system(desirable).
- Operate machines in Machine Shop when necessary, when production or staff absences demand. (desirable)
- Health and Safety compliance, including LOLER for lifting equipment.
- Programming offline using Fusion 360 or other programming software (desirable).
- Implement quality system in particular focusing on helping the business achieve its ISO Aims & Objectives and monitoring and reporting on KPIs, as outlined in the ISO standard:

- Manage machinery repairs, maintenance and servicing schedules for all Machine Shop machines.
- Identify and procure required tools, consumables and materials
- Attend and contribute to management meetings
- Involvement in recruitment when required.
- Operate fork truck (training can be given)
