We are looking for a reliable removals porter who can ideally drive a 3.5 tonne luton van with a clean licence to join our team. Removals experience is preferred but not essential - a willingness to learn the trade is essential, with a good level of common sense, work ethic, and the ability to pick up new skills quickly.
The current position would be on a part time basis with potential for more work in the future.
Customer service is imperative to us and you will need to be able to deliver the same high level of service. You must be presentable, polite and hardworking.
You will be required to work as part of a team, packing and moving household furniture and contents to customer’s new property or into storage.
Requirements:
- Physically strong & fit due to heavy lifting and walking involved in removals.
- The ability to / learn to safely load and stack vehicles.
- Honest and responsible attitude to customer's property.
- Confidence in dealing with customers.
- Good time keeping.
- Flexible in the days and times that you work. Some weekend work will be required.
Starting rate of pay is £80 per day plus tips if you have removals experience. Additional pay is available to earn if you are able to drive our 3.5t vehicles too.
Salary reviews will be carried out to ensure your pay remains competitive.
You must be able to get to Guildford, for work. A work shirt will be provided.
Responsibilities and Duties
Working with a team, your main responsibilities will be:
- Checking with the customer which items are to be moved.
- Dismantling and re-assembling large items of furniture for moving.
- Packing customer’s contents into boxes (training will be provided).
- Carry items to the vehicle(s) safely and without damaging items or premises.
- Loading and securing the contents in the vehicle.
- Driving with the team to the new location, unloading and placing the contents where the customer would like them.
- Ensure the vehicles are tidy and ready for the next day.
Role
The current position is available on a 0 hours basis but we can offer 3-5 days work per week to start, with the opportunity of a full time position for the right candidate. Days will vary in length depending on the job requirement but usually range from 8-5pm.
