Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organised and dedicated Tissue Bank Technician to join our team. As a Tissue Bank Technician you will play a crucial role in the recovery, processing, and distribution of animal tissue implants as well as processing of stem cells for transplantation. Veterinary tissue bank is regulated by Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) and Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA).
A driving licence and own transport are essential for this job, given the rural location of the place.
Duties:
- Perform aseptic surgical recovery procedures on donated dogs and cats with care and respect
- Process recovered tissues according to established protocols and procedures
- Ensure proper documentation and labelling of tissues for accurate tracking and traceability
- Maintain strict adherence to standard operating procedures
- Communicate with pet owners and veterinary practices to ensure efficient customer care
- Participate in promotion and marketing of tissue products and awareness of tissue donation to pet owners and veterinary professionals
Skills:
- A minimal GCE/A level or equivalent in science is required
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to follow strict protocols and procedures
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Good communication skill
- Experience in laboratory setting and understanding of aseptic protocols
