Athena Care Group is growing, and we are looking for experienced, passionate, and caring Children’s Residential Support Workers to join our homes. You will support children and young people who are unable to live with their families, helping them to feel safe, supported, and valued.
We are looking for individuals who have experience of looking after children and young people in a residential care setting and who understand the challenges and rewards that come with the role. You will bring empathy, resilience, and a genuine commitment to helping young people thrive. This role can be challenging, but it is also deeply rewarding. Full training and ongoing support are provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Support children and young people with daily routines and activities
- Assess individual needs and contribute to care plans
- Promote independence, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviour
- Safeguard children and advocate for their needs
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals
- Complete accurate records and documentation
- Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing home environment
Shift Pattern
- 14.5-hour shifts plus sleep-ins (overnight)
- Approximately 3 shifts per week
- Around 173 hours per month
- 2 weekends per month
- Block shifts with several rest days in between
Example duties include school runs, household tasks, paperwork, preparing meals, evening routines, safety checks, and sleep-in duties. No two days are ever the same.
Requirements
- Experience caring for children or young people in a residential care setting
- Aged 21 or over (in line with care regulations)
- Full UK manual driving licence
- Eligible for an Enhanced DBS check (children & young people; update service preferred)
