As a Construction Manager, you'll take ownership of construction delivery from mobilisation through to commissioning and handover, leading complex programmes across major cable infrastructure works. Working closely with project teams, clients, subcontractors, and key stakeholders, you'll ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong operational expertise, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple work fronts within a fast-paced infrastructure environment. Your work will directly contribute to nationally significant energy projects supporting the UK's transition to a more secure and sustainable energy future.

Lead the safe delivery of major HV transmission and infrastructure projects from mobilisation through to commissioning and handover.
- Manage construction activities across multiple work fronts, leading site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
- Oversee construction programmes, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Coordinate HV cable installation activities, including enabling works, trenching, duct installation, HDD, joint bays, cable installation, reinstatement, and commissioning interfaces.
- Promote a strong health, safety, environmental, and quality culture across all project activities.
- Work closely with design teams to resolve technical queries, improve buildability, and manage construction-related changes.
- Manage project resources, productivity, costs, and subcontractor performance to maximise project success.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, client specifications, DCO obligations, and industry standards.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, National Grid, DNOs, local authorities, and other key stakeholders.
- Lead project reporting, quality assurance activities, governance processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor and develop construction teams, promoting collaboration and high performance.
- Proven experience as a Construction Manager delivering major civil engineering, utility, energy, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong experience delivering HV cable, power transmission, utility, or major infrastructure projects.
- Excellent leadership skills with experience managing multidisciplinary construction teams.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, temporary works, and utility infrastructure delivery.
- Experience managing construction programmes, subcontractors, resources, and project delivery risks.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of contract administration.
- SMSTS qualification.
- CSCS Black Card (or equivalent).
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Experience delivering HV transmission infrastructure projects (132kV–400kV).
- Experience delivering projects under a Development Consent Order (DCO) regime.
- Knowledge of National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) standards, procedures, and governance requirements.
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Professional membership or accreditation (CIOB, ICE, APM, or equivalent).
- Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) or Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS) qualification.
- Knowledge of NEC, FIDIC, and other standard forms of contract.
- First Aid at Work qualification.
