Front of House Supervisor - Banqueting
An opportunity to join an award-winning, family-owned wedding venue in the Kent countryside. The Old Kent Barn has won several regional and national awards since opening in 2006 and is now searching for a Front of House Supervisor to join us with an immediate start.
You will be working with the chefs to ensure the service team deliver a flawless experience for our couples and their guests. Your goal is to ensure the service runs smoothly; the various dietaries and allergies are managed with extreme precision and the venue’s reputation for excellent customer service is maintained.
Key Responsibilities
Event Execution & Guest Experience
- Be the Face of the Venue during service: You will be out on the floor as the drinks reception comes to an end and help the transition of the wedding/event party into the Barn. And then be the main point of contact throughout service for guests.
- Timeline Management: Work closely with the Wedding Coordinator to keep the event on schedule
- VIP Service: Ensure the couple and their immediate family are well looked after
- Problem Solving: Handle guest queries or unexpected delays with confidence
- Maintaining standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen, ensuring ancillary service areas and storage are well kept, stocked and presentable
- Making sure all food, health, and safety regulations are adhered to within the service team.
Team Leadership & Service
- Staff Briefings: Lead pre-service meetings with the serving team to review the timeline, menu, dietary requirements, and VIP guests.
- Floor Management: Direct the flow of food service, ensuring tables are cleared promptly and the room remains pristine.
- Kitchen Liaison: Act as the main bridge between the kitchen and the floor, communicating pacing to the Head Chef to ensure food comes out hot and on time.
- Training: To support in delivering in-house training to service staff.
Closing Duties
- Closing Duties: Oversee the end of service cleanup, and ensure the kitchen is set for the following day.
Requirements & Skills
- Experience: Minimum of [1-2] years in hospitality, fine dining, or event management. Previous wedding experience is highly preferred.
- Exceptional time management, leadership and delegation skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Good knowledge of health and safety practices including allergies
- Ability to remain calm and focused
- Weekend availability essential
- Shifts normally 9am-7pm but may vary
- Minimum 30 hours per week.
Pay: £13.45 per hour
