Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Backshift Labourer to join our team. The Back Shift team are responsible for maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness within the production areas, supporting safe food production, and assisting with product handling and processing tasks. The role ensures compliance with food safety, health & safety, and COSHH regulations while supporting efficient factory operations.
Responsibilities
- Daily cleaning of the Production Area workspace, including the prawn washing machine, nitrogen tunnel, glazing belt, banding/strapping machine and conveyor, scallop washer and belt, and boot wash facilities
- Cleaning of floors, ceilings, and walls to required hygiene standards
- Safe and correct dispensing and use of cleaning chemicals
- Adherence to COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations
- Correct wearing and use of PPE whilst undertaking cleaning routines
- Completion of all hygiene, cleaning, and production records as required
- Loading and unloading of product from vehicles
- Accurate completion of product intake and recording procedures
- Prawn washing, storage, and freezing in accordance with company procedures
- Supporting production operations as required
- Following all company policies, food safety standards, and health & safety procedures
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised working environment at all times
- Participating in additional training as you progress within the role
Skills & Attributes
- Previous experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment is preferred but not essential
- Understanding of basic hygiene standards and willingness to work to strict food safety procedures
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks accurately and efficiently
- Physically capable of manual handling and standing for extended periods
- Attention to detail, particularly when recording production and cleaning activities
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to travel to site in Amble, Northumberland
