Pay: Negotiable - from £26 per hour PAYE

SEND Inclusion Support is seeking resilient, relationship-focused professionals to work with secondary-aged students who are currently unable to access school due to Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, trauma, anxiety, exclusion or significant disengagement from education.

The Role
You will work on a 1:1 basis with secondary-aged students across Wigan and surrounding areas who require personalised educational support outside of a traditional school setting.
Many of the young people we support have experienced:
- Trauma and adverse childhood experiences
- Persistent absence from education
- Exclusion or risk of exclusion
- Emotional dysregulation
- Anxiety and school avoidance
- Complex safeguarding concerns
Students may also be supported by a range of professionals and agencies including:
- Social workers
- Therapists and counsellors
- CAMHS practitioners
- Youth offending teams
- Police and safeguarding professionals
- Family support services
You will deliver tailored educational and engagement sessions designed to rebuild trust, develop confidence and support positive educational outcomes.
Where You'll Work
Sessions are delivered in a range of settings including:
- Students' homes
- Libraries
- Community venues
- Alternative learning environments
- Online where appropriate
This is a highly independent role requiring professionalism, adaptability and strong safeguarding awareness.
What We're Looking For
Qualifications are less important than relevant experience.
QTS is welcomed but is not essential.
We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate:
- Experience working with secondary-aged young people
- Experience within SEMH, alternative provision or behaviour support settings
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to remain calm, consistent and professional in challenging situations
- Understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed approaches
- Confidence working independently within community settings
- Experience working alongside families and external agencies
Essential Requirements
- A current Enhanced DBS Certificate registered with the DBS Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one prior to commencing work.
- The ability to meet safeguarding and suitability requirements for working with children and young people.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable due to the community-based nature of the role.
