Duties
- Assist the Head Chef in planning and preparing menus that meet quality standards and customer expectations
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff, including chefs, cooks, and kitchen assistants
- Oversee food production processes to ensure consistency, presentation, and adherence to safety regulations
- Manage food preparation tasks efficiently during service hours, maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety
- Monitor stock levels and order supplies as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Enforce food safety protocols and maintain cleanliness throughout the kitchen area
- Support team management by providing training, guidance, and motivation to junior staff members
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery during busy periods
- Assist in developing new recipes and menu items in line with current culinary trends
Qualifications
- Proven supervisory experience within a professional kitchen environment
- Extensive food production and culinary experience, including food preparation and cooking techniques
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in hospitality settings
- Previous restaurant experience is highly desirable
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Good understanding of serving procedures and customer service principles
- Relevant qualifications in culinary arts or hospitality management are advantageous
