As a business, we’ve gone through massive growth over the past few years, to continue at pace, we opened our second site. Our Head Office based in Bristol and second site in Warminster.
We are on the lookout for Site Engineering Lead to help support our Head of Supply Chain & Logistics with the coordination of all warehousing activities at our Bristol Head Office.
Day-to-day you will:
- Ensure labour targets are met, with continuous improvements to reduce labour utilisation.
- Ensure all goods are received to the Cakesmiths specification and to the highest food safety and quality standards, and making sure any defects are dealt with immediately with corrective actions in place.
- Plan holiday cover efficiently, ensuring the shift is not left without skills.
- Plan efficient shutdown of the Warehouses if on shift with good coordination, planning and efficiency.
- Ensure the Warehouses are always at the highest standard of cleanliness and actively promote a clean-as-you-go policy and maintain the Warehouses standard GMP.
- Ensure that the Health & Safety of all staff and equipment is met at all times and immediately reporting any concerns to the Head of Supply Chain & Logistics and the Health, Safety & Environment Manager.
- Ensure you uphold all Safety & Environment legislative requirements.
- Ensure you operate in a safe working environment for all personnel.
- Ensure adequate supply of materials to the Production teams at all times.
- Promote and support a zero-accident culture within the team.
- Ensure line efficiency and utilisation meets or exceeds budget, through continuous improvement.
- Take responsibility for coaching and developing the teams’ skill and knowledge.
- Display a fundamental understanding of all work roles within your team.
- Be a role model and actively promote a culture of continuous improvement within the Warehouse & Prep teams.
- Lead by example and promote a good working culture, man management, and direct and support staff.
- Conduct regular 1-2-1 sessions with all the team and promote upskilling within the team. Coach and help with development. Assist with new team members coming on board and support settlement into the role.
- All stock rotation to be fulfilled on first in first out system.
- Ambient goods and packaging to be put away within 30 minutes of receipt.
- All frozen and chilled goods to be put away on delivery as quickly and efficiently as possible.
- Take charge of all stock control.
- Locking up duties of all sites.
- Ensure all ingredients are picked for the Prep team for each line.
Environmental
- Awareness of the environmental impact and reduce general waste and energy running.
- Switch off any packaging equipment when line running isn’t required, i.e. cleaning or breakdown longer than 1hr.
- Minimise product waste. Adopt a Zero-Defect mentality.
Hygiene
- To ensure all hygiene and cleaning duties are carried out to a high standard across the entire Warehouse & Prep teams.
- Hygiene cleaning schedules are adhered to with correct labour in place.
- Ensure that all cleaning documentation is completed accurately and signing off correctly in all areas.
- Responsible for looking after hygiene equipment i.e. ensuring that all parts of the equipment are maintained and reported in a timely manner if any part is broken with correct documentation.
- Maintain and encourage a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness throughout all Warehouse & Prep areas.
Packing and Loading
- All staff are required to perform packing and loading duties.
Quality
- All staff are responsible for the quality and safety of product packed or booked in in their work area.
Training
- All staff are required to share their knowledge, work together and when required, to train their colleagues using a buddy system.
- All staff must be able to carry out this training in English.
- All new staff to briefed on line hazards as identified by risk assessments.
Qualifications/Experience/Technical Skills
Essential
- Previous experience in a supervisory or management role of a team of 10+ people.
- Previous experience working in a food warehousing environment with a food-based background.
- Level 2: Foundation in Food Hygiene
- Accountability for team actions and ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Effective team player.
- Strong organisational and planning skills
- Good time management skills
- Good problem-solving skills
- Proactive and able to make informed decisions within short timescales.
- PC Literacy – Intermediate/advanced use of Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook
