At Recovery Connections, we believe that recovery starts with the right support, environment, and people. Our Residential Detox Service provides a safe and structured setting where individuals can begin their recovery journey — and this role plays a vital part in making that possible.
We’re looking for compassionate, reliable Detox Support Workers to join our team and support people through detox, helping them stabilise, build confidence, and move forward into sustained recovery.

About the Role
As a Detox Support Worker, you will work as part of a dedicated team supporting individuals through detoxification and early recovery in a structured, safe, and supportive environment.
You’ll provide both practical and emotional support, helping people manage withdrawal, engage in meaningful activity, and prepare for their next steps in recovery — whether that’s treatment, community support, or mutual aid.
What You’ll Be Doing
Support individuals through detox and early recovery
- Provide day-to-day support, ensuring safety, wellbeing, and engagement
- Support individuals experiencing withdrawal, escalating concerns where needed
- Encourage engagement in recovery and preparation for next steps
Create a safe and structured environment
- Promote a calm, respectful, and recovery-focused setting
- Support individuals to maintain routines, responsibilities, and personal space
- Uphold clear expectations that support safety and positive behaviours
Promote recovery and connection
- Encourage engagement with mutual aid and recovery pathways
- Support access to groups, activities, and external appointments
- Assist with discharge planning and onward recovery support
Provide practical and holistic support
- Assist with daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, and budgeting
- Support people to access benefits and manage immediate needs
- Provide emotional support during what can be a challenging time
Be part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Contribute to discussions, reporting, and record-keeping
- Support admissions, inductions, and orientation into the service
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner services
Work safely and professionally
- Maintain professional boundaries and follow safeguarding procedures
- Ensure compliance with health and safety and CQC standards

Experience
- Experience supporting people in recovery or care settings (desirable)
- Knowledge of recovery pathways and support systems
Skills & Attributes
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills

- Organised, adaptable, and able to work as part of a team
- Empathetic, non-judgemental, and supportive approach
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 (or above) in Health & Social Care (or willingness to complete — fully funded)
- Driving licence desirable
