Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced 2nd Chef to join our team at the White Hart Halesworth as we get ready for a busy summer. The successful candidate will assist in food preparation and kitchen operations, and support the head chef in delivering exceptional guest experience. This role offers an opportunity to develop leadership skills within a dynamic hospitality environment, ensuring high standards of food safety and quality are maintained at all times.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and standards
- Supervise kitchen staff during shifts, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to health and safety regulations
- Manage food production processes, including portion control and presentation standards
- Support the head chef with menu planning, ingredient sourcing, and inventory management.
- Oversee food safety practices, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen
- Serve meals efficiently to guests, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff to develop their culinary skills and knowledge
- Collaborate with front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service delivery during busy periods
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years experience in a professional kitchen environment, ideally within a hospitality setting
- Demonstrable supervisory experience and team management skills
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food safety standards
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Leadership qualities with a proactive approach to problem-solving and staff development
- Knowledge of culinary techniques, menu development, and food presentation
- Good understanding of health and safety regulations within a kitchen environment
Pay: £14.00-£16.00 per hour
