The Role
Pelican Bus & Coach is seeking a dedicated and skilled vehicle service engineer to join our team specialising in Yutong vehicles in the North East area. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of Yutong buses, ensuring that they operate at peak performance and meet safety standards.
This role is pivotal in maintaining our reputation for excellent customer service in attending customer needs in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform routine servicing, repairs, and inspections on Yutong vehicles to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety regulations.
- Diagnose faults using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment, working effectively to resolve issues promptly.
2. Vehicle Inspections:
- Conduct thorough pre-delivery and routine inspections, identifying any mechanical or electrical faults and ensuring all work is completed to a high standard.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and services performed on each vehicle.
3. Documentation:
- Complete all necessary paperwork, including service reports and parts requisitions, for accurate tracking and compliance.
- Report any significant vehicle issues to management in a timely manner.
4. Customer Interaction:
- Liaise with customers as needed to explain service procedures, repairs, and maintenance needs.
- Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the service process.
5. Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, particularly around health and safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organised environment.
6. Team Collaboration:
- Work alongside other engineering staff and management to achieve common service objectives.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge of Yutong vehicles.
About You:
You will be able to demonstrate:
- solid previous experience in a technical role ideally relating to electric buses;
- excellent planning, organisation and time management skills;
- great communication skills in a customer facing role;
- attention to detail and timely submission of appropriate paperwork, to enable warranty claims and invoicing to be done in a timely manner
You will be professional but personable and a good communicator liaising with customers and our in-house team to ensure efficiency.
You must have a CPC bus / coach licence as the role might include some movement of vehicles within the UK.
Qualifications:
- Relevant qualifications in vehicle maintenance and repair (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent).
- Experience working with buses or commercial vehicles, preferably with Yutong or similar brands.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
