School Chef Manager 32.5 hours per week Annual Salary (£21,326.50) to oversee the daily operation of the school’s kitchen and catering services, ensuring the delivery of healthy, balanced, and appealing meals for students and staff. This role requires a strong combination of culinary skill, leadership, and operational management to provide high-quality food that supports student wellbeing and complies with school food standards and safety regulations.
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Chef Manager to lead our culinary team and oversee food production in our establishment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in kitchen management, food safety, and culinary arts, ensuring that all meals are prepared to the highest standards. This role requires excellent leadership abilities and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences while maintaining a positive and efficient kitchen environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and productive team atmosphere.
- Oversee the food preparation process, ensuring quality control and adherence to recipes.
- Plan and develop menus that reflect seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain high standards of hygiene in the kitchen.
- Manage inventory, ordering supplies, and minimising waste to optimise food production efficiency.
- Train new staff in cooking techniques, food safety practices, and kitchen operations.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Monitor kitchen operations to ensure timely meal service while maintaining quality standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role within a kitchen environment.
- Strong culinary skills with experience in food preparation and cooking techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a team effectively, promoting teamwork and collaboration.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hospitality.
- Previous restaurant experience is highly desirable, along with familiarity with various cuisines.
- Excellent leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and inspire staff.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in both food production and kitchen management.
