The Role
We are seeking an experienced finance professional to support the delivery of accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and business performance analysis. Working closely with senior finance leadership, you will play a key role in maintaining financial controls, producing management information, and providing valuable commercial insight to operational teams.
This position offers a blend of financial reporting and business partnering responsibilities, requiring strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate financial information effectively to a variety of stakeholders.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of monthly management accounts, ensuring reporting deadlines are met.
- Support the month-end and year-end close process, including review of ledgers, accruals, prepayments, and financial adjustments.
- Prepare and post accounting journals as required.
- Produce detailed financial analysis and commentary to explain variances against budgets, forecasts, and prior periods.
- Develop financial reports and performance summaries to support management decision-making.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies, ensuring issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Monitor expenditure and identify areas of financial risk, cost savings, and operational improvement.
- Partner with departmental managers to improve financial understanding and support cost management initiatives.
- Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and strategic financial plans.
- Present financial information to stakeholders, translating complex financial data into clear and meaningful insights.
- Support the ongoing development of finance systems, processes, and reporting capabilities.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company financial procedures.
- Provide assistance during internal and external audits and contribute to statutory reporting requirements.
- Support senior finance colleagues with financial modelling, reporting requests, and ad hoc projects.
- Collaborate with the wider finance team and provide cover during periods of absence where required.
Experience
- Previous experience within a finance or accounting role in a commercial environment.
- Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
- Experience preparing management accounts and analysing financial performance.
- Strong understanding of month-end processes, reconciliations, and financial controls.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience working with ERP, accounting, or consolidation systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the business.
- Organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- A proactive approach with a continuous improvement mindset.
