The J&S Group Limited are a successful and innovative design and manufacturer of exhibition display stands, point of sale materials and commercial/retail fitouts. Due to our continued success, we have expanded our operation into new premises in Glossop. Manufacturing takes place within our workshop and goods are transported across the UK and Europe and the USA for build.

About you and the role
We are seeking experienced joiners/carpenters, ideally with a background in the exhibition, showroom, and display industry. The role includes bench hand joinery in our workshop and on-site work throughout the UK and Europe.
The ideal candidate will have the capability to oversee build projects, ensuring that junior team members produce high-quality work in line with deadlines. The successful candidate will be reliable, trustworthy, and honest, demonstrating good values and standards in all aspects of their work. A comprehensive knowledge of health and safety, quality, and regulatory standards is essential, as is the ability to problem-solve and take a proactive approach to the role.
The candidates should have the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems that may arise on the factory floor or off-site during build and dismantling phases. The role is deadline-driven and can be demanding, requiring the successful candidates to work overtime and weekends during busy periods.
Essential skills / experience
· Joinery qualification equivalent to NVQ/City and Guilds Level 3 or significant experience to compensate
· Excellent attention to detail and quality led approach to work
· Highly organised and tidy
· Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
· Understanding of and the ability to demonstrate and enforce health and safety guidance and procedures
· Punctual, reliable, honest and trustworthy
· The ability to work on own initiative with minimal assistance from the senior management team
· Team player with the ability to motivate others
· Proactive and can take initiative to escalate issues
· Proven experience as a bench joiner or similar role
· Good standard of computer skills
· Ability to interpret client CAD drawings
· Good problem-solving skills
· Self-motivated with a results-driven approach
· Full UK Driving Licence
· Experience in using various types of manufacturing machinery and tools
· Valid Passport
· Ability to travel. Occasional working away from home during on site installations and dismantles. UK and Europe from 1 -10 nights per project.
Desirable skills / experience
· Experience working within the exhibitions industry
· Understanding of exhibition standards
· Forklift Licence
· Experience working on site (not in a factory i.e. commercial or retail client environments)
· HGV Licence
Schedule
· 8-hour day shift.
· Monday to Friday - evening and weekend availability for on and off-site work.
