Axcis Education are seeking to appoint a special needs teaching assistant to take on full time and long term work at a special needs school in the heart of Wiltshire. This would be starting as soon as possible and to run for the remainder of the school year with the potential for it to go permanent for the right person. Working hours are 8:30 - 3:30, Monday to Friday and term time only.
This school specialises mostly in taking in students that have been diagnosed with autism but students can also come with some complex needs and ADHD. The school is based on a unique site with an old converted manor house. The school has a great team in place with good retention, so many people that work here tend to stay for many years.
Often people that do well in this school, are those that have special needs experience but necessarily not from a school perspective. It could be that you have supported children in a youth centre or within the care centre. What we are really interested in experience in autism and how best to navigate around those behaviours and being able to keep children settled and engaged in their learning activities.
Patience, empathy and understanding are the cornerstones of what we are looking for in someone. The right person will be able to be adaptable to changing objectives and how best to get there, and follow the instructions laid out by the teachers or member of senior leadership.
In order to be considered you will need to hold a enhanced DBS on the update service, or be willing to apply for one as part of a application. Get in touch if you are wanting to make a positive and meaningful impact on neuro-divergent children.
