About the role

Citizens Advice Shropshire is looking for a Generalist Adviser (or Trainee) to join our friendly, supportive team. You’ll help people tackle some of life’s toughest challenges — from debt and housing issues to benefits and the rising cost of living.
This is a varied, rewarding role where no two days are the same.
What you’ll do
- Provide advice and support across areas such as:
- Welfare benefits and income maximisation
- Money and budgeting
- Housing and employment
- Energy and consumer issues
- Work with clients via:
- Telephone (Adviceline)
- Face-to-face appointments (office and outreach locations)
- Help clients complete forms, understand their rights, and take action
- Carry out some casework, including challenging benefit decisions Collaborate with colleagues, volunteers, and partner organisations
About you
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about helping people and making a positive impact
- A great communicator with strong listening skills
- Organised and able to manage a varied workload
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Willing to learn and develop (full training provided for trainee roles)
An understanding of issues such as benefits, debt, or housing is helpful but not essential.
