Cover Supervisor – Pupil Referral Unit – Southampton
A pupil referral unit in Southampton is seeking a confident, resilient, and proactive Cover Supervisor to join their team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a specialist setting supporting young people who may present with SEMH needs and require additional behavioural and emotional support.
The provision offers a structured, supportive, and nurturing environment where staff work collaboratively to re-engage learners in education and help them develop positive attitudes towards learning and personal development.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising whole classes during teacher absence, ensuring learning is delivered effectively and behaviour is managed in line with school expectations. Lessons will be pre-prepared, and you will be expected to support students to remain engaged and on task throughout.
The role will involve:
- Supervising classes in the absence of teaching staff
- Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials
- Supporting students to remain focused and engaged in learning
- Managing behaviour in line with school policies and procedures
- Building positive and professional relationships with students
- Supporting the wider pastoral and behaviour team when required
The school is looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with young people, ideally in an SEMH or alternative provision setting
- Is confident, calm, and able to manage challenging behaviour effectively
- Has a resilient and proactive approach
- Can build positive relationships with students and staff
