Are you passionate about great food, seasonal ingredients, and cooking everything from scratch? We're looking for a talented Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at our award-winning independent pub in the heart of Hampshire.
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside an experienced Head Chef in a busy, well-established kitchen that has built an excellent reputation for high-quality British dining, warm hospitality, and showcasing the very best local produce.

We are a proud, independently owned Hampshire pub with a strong food-led reputation. Our menus celebrate the seasons and are built around fresh ingredients sourced from trusted local farmers, fishermen, and artisan suppliers wherever possible.
Everything is prepared in-house, from sauces and stocks to desserts, with a focus on honest cooking, exceptional flavour, and beautifully presented dishes. We believe in creating a positive kitchen culture where teamwork, creativity, and consistency are at the heart of everything we do.
The Role
As Sous Chef, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, supporting the Head Chef while helping to maintain the high standards our guests have come to expect.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the smooth operation of kitchen service.
- Leading the team in the Head Chef's absence.
- Preparing and cooking fresh, seasonal dishes to a consistently high standard.
- Assisting with the creation and development of seasonal menus and daily specials.
- Mentoring and developing junior chefs.
- Managing stock, ordering, and minimising waste.
- Maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene, health and safety.
- Ensuring every dish leaving the kitchen reflects the quality and reputation of our pub.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a chef who is passionate about their craft and enjoys working with quality ingredients.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or an ambitious Junior Sous Chef ready to take the next step.
- Strong experience in fresh food kitchens.
- A passion for seasonal British and modern European cuisine.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- A calm, positive approach under pressure.
- Natural leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and support others.
- High standards of cleanliness and attention to detail.

This is a full-time, permanent position based in Hampshire.
