Bacaro Liverpool is seeking an experienced, passionate, and driven Sous Chef to join our talented kitchen team. Located on bustling Castle Street, Bacaro is celebrated for its exceptional Italian small plates, vibrant atmosphere, and commitment to fresh, high-quality ingredients. As Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef & OWNERS to lead the kitchen brigade, maintain our high standards, and drive culinary excellence.
The Role & Responsibilities
- Kitchen Leadership: Deputise for the Head Chef, managing daily kitchen operations and leading the team by example.
- Food Quality: Ensure every dish leaves the pass meeting Bacaro's exact standards for taste, presentation, and consistency.
- Team Development: Mentor, train, and motivate junior chefs to foster a positive, high-performing kitchen culture.
- Stock & Margin Management: Assist with ordering, inventory control, waste reduction, and maintaining food gross profit (GP) targets.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain impeccable standards of cleanliness, food hygiene (HACCP), and health and safety compliance.
What We Are Looking For
- Proven Experience: At least 1–2 years of experience as a Sous Chef or strong Junior Sous Chef in a high-volume, fresh-food environment.
- Cuisine Passion: A genuine love for Italian cuisine, small plates, and working with fresh, seasonal ingredients.
- Leadership Skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to remain calm, organised, and decisive under pressure.
- Business Acumen: Good understanding of kitchen financial targets, including stock control and labour costs.
- Reliability: A dependable team player with a strong work ethic and a desire to progress their culinary career.
What We Offer
- Competitive Salary: Up to £36,000–£40,000 per annum (depending on experience) plus a generous share of service charge/tips (Circa £6k-£8k per year)
