The Role
We are currently seeking an experienced, hands-on Yard Manager to oversee our daily yard operations. We need a highly capable individual with a strong mechanical background who can keep our HGVs and plant machinery running smoothly, while actively jumping in to operate heavy equipment when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Repairs: Lead the ongoing maintenance of our HGV fleet and diagnose/repair faults on heavy plant machinery.
- Plant Operation: Safely and efficiently operate yard equipment, specifically excavators and wheeled loaders, to manage material flow.
- Crushing Operations: Oversee and manage the operation of the jaw crusher for our aggregate recycling processes.
- Yard Management: Ensure the yard operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all health and safety regulations.
Essential Skills & Experience
- HGV & Plant Mechanics: Proven experience in HGV maintenance alongside strong mechanical skills to repair heavy plant machinery.
- HGV Licence: Desirable but not essential
- Machine Operation: Hands-on experience operating excavators and wheeled loaders is essential.
- Crusher Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of operating and maintaining a jaw crusher.
- Reliability: You must be highly punctual and flexible, as the demands of a haulage and waste management yard can change rapidly.
- A proactive, problem-solving attitude with the ability to work independently.
