About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and fully qualified Dental Nurse experienced who would like to be trained in dental implants, to join our friendly and supportive dental team. As a GDC-registered professional, you will provide essential chairside support, maintain outstanding infection control standards, and contribute to delivering high-quality patient care in a modern mixed practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide chairside assistance to dentists, hygienists, and therapists during all dental procedures, including examinations, fillings, extractions, crowns, root canals, and hygiene appointments.
- Prepare and maintain the clinical environment, including setting up surgeries, preparing materials (e.g., fillings, impressions), and ensuring all equipment is ready for use.
- Perform high standards of infection prevention and control, including sterilisation of instruments, decontamination processes, and adherence to current guidelines (HTM 01-05 / latest CQC standards).
- Assist with patient comfort and reassurance, particularly for anxious or paediatric patients, explaining procedures and providing post-operative advice.
- process dental radiographs (if qualified / under prescription).
- Maintain accurate patient records, update notes, and ensure GDPR and GDC compliance in documentation.
- Support reception/admin duties when required (e.g., appointment management, stock control, patient check-in).
- Participate in team meetings, audits, and ongoing CPD to meet GDC requirements.
- Comply fully with the GDC Scope of Practice and Standards for the Dental Team at all times.
Essential Requirements
- Valid GDC registration (active and in good standing – please provide registration number).
- Recognised dental nursing qualification (e.g., NEBDN Diploma in Dental Nursing, City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma, or equivalent GDC-approved course).
- Proven experience as a qualified dental nurse (minimum 1–2 years preferred).
- Strong knowledge of cross-infection control procedures and current best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to put patients at ease.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a close-knit team.
- Commitment to professional development and maintaining CPD hours.
Desirable Skills/Experience
- Additional qualifications (e.g., radiography, oral health education, fluoride application, impressions, rubber dam placement).
- Experience in [private / NHS / specialist / implant / orthodontic] dentistry.
- Treatment coordination or reception experience.
- Current BLS/CPR training.
