Overview
We are seeking a friendly and organised Farm Shop Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, managing shop displays, and assisting customers with their purchases. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and possess a passion for local produce and farm products. This paid position offers an opportunity to develop retail skills within a welcoming rural setting.
Responsibilities
- Greeting customers warmly and assisting them with their enquiries
- Managing stock levels and ensuring the shop displays are attractive and well-organised
- Operating the cash register accurately and handling transactions efficiently
- Upselling products to maximise sales opportunities
- Providing information about products, including ingredients, origin, and usage suggestions
- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the shop area
- Assisting with merchandising to promote seasonal or special items
- Handling phone enquiries professionally and courteously
- Supporting other team members during busy periods or special events
Skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong organisational skills with good time management abilities
- Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions and stock counts
- Good phone etiquette when dealing with customer inquiries over the phone
- Ability to upsell products effectively without being pushy
- Organised with an eye for detail to ensure the shop remains tidy and inviting
- Friendly demeanour with a positive attitude towards teamwork and customer service
Working Hours - Average 8 - 16 hours weekly over 1 or 2 days - Weekend work on a rotary basis
Overtime will be available to cover when required.
Due to location, a driving license is required
Pay: £12.71 per hour
