We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Head Dental Nurse / Lead Dental Nurse to join our dental practice. This vital role involves overseeing daily clinical operations, supporting dental team members, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will possess strong organisational and communication skills, with a passion for maintaining excellent standards within a busy dental environment. Prior leadership experience in a dental setting is highly desirable.

About the Role
As our Head Dental Nurse, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the clinical side of the practice. Working closely with our dentists, practice manager and wider team, you will lead by example, maintain high clinical standards and create a positive working environment where both patients and colleagues feel supported.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, supervising and mentoring the dental nursing team, providing guidance and day-to-day support.
- Assisting dentists during dental procedures.
- Maintaining the highest standards of cross-infection control and compliance with CQC, HTM and GDC regulations.
- Managing appointment flow and supporting the efficient day-to-day running of the practice.
- Monitoring and maintaining clinical stock levels and ordering supplies when required.
- Ensuring accurate patient records are maintained in accordance with GDPR and practice policies.
- Supporting the training and development of junior team members.
- Assisting with administrative and reception duties during periods of annual leave, sickness or increased demand.
- Promoting excellent communication across the practice to deliver an outstanding patient experience.
- Helping create a positive, supportive and efficient working culture.
Working Hours
We are looking for someone who can work up to 40 hours per week.
Typical working hours are:
- Monday: 8:15am – 5:15pm
- Tuesday: 8:15am – 6:15pm
- Wednesday: 8:15am – 5:15pm
- Thursday: 8:15am – 5:15pm
- Friday: 8:15am – 3:45pm
Some flexibility to work occasional Saturdays would be advantageous.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have:
- A recognised Dental Nursing qualification.
- Current GDC registration.
- Previous experience as a Lead or Senior Dental Nurse, or you're an experienced Dental Nurse ready to progress into a leadership role.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
- Outstanding communication skills with both patients and colleagues.
- A caring, empathetic and professional approach.
- Strong knowledge of infection control, health & safety and compliance standards.
- Good IT skills and confidence using dental practice management software.
- The ability to prioritise workload and remain calm in a busy environment.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic and genuine passion for patient care.
