Role Description
This is a full-time Fuel Delivery & Generator Field Support Driver role based in Widnes, with regular long-distance travel to customer sites across the UK. The role involves delivering fuel safely and efficiently to generators at customer sites, including potentially remote or off-shore locations, while following all safety and environmental guidelines. The driver will assist with basic generator support tasks such as routine checks, reporting faults, and supporting commissioning, testing, and decommissioning activities as directed by technicians or engineers.
Day-to-day responsibilities include vehicle and equipment checks, maintaining accurate delivery records, coordinating schedules with the operations team, and ensuring compliance with fuel management, drivers' hours, and tachograph regulations. This role involves extensive UK-wide travel, including long-distance, multi-day runs that require regular overnight stays away from home, and may involve working flexible hours, including nights and weekends, to support emergency call-outs and critical power requirements.
Qualifications
- Valid driving licence appropriate for fuel delivery vehicles, with a strong track record of safe driving and familiarity with route planning and navigation.
- Experience or training in fuel handling, fuel management, and basic understanding of fuel compliance and environmental safety standards.
- Knowledge of generators or power systems, with the ability to perform basic checks, follow technical instructions, and support field technicians.
- Sound mechanical aptitude with generators, including basic checks, fault-finding, and minor maintenance on generator sets at customer sites.
- Strong attention to detail for record-keeping, delivery documentation, and adherence to operational procedures and safety protocols.
- Good communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with dispatch, engineers, and customers in a professional manner.
- Ability to work in varied environments, including outdoor and potentially offshore locations, with readiness for flexible hours, overnight stays, and on-call work.
- Working knowledge of drivers' hours rules and tachograph operation.
- Willing and able to undertake long-distance, multi-day delivery runs across the UK, including regular overnight stays away from home.
- Relevant certifications (such as ADR, fuel handling, or health and safety training) are desirable but not mandatory.
Pay: £45,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
