Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Fitter to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and diagnostics on HGVs to identify faults or potential issues.
- Perform repairs and maintenance tasks including welding, soldering, and fabrication as required.
- Interpret schematics and technical diagrams to facilitate accurate repairs and modifications.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to carry out mechanical and electrical repairs.
- Fabricate components or parts necessary for vehicle repair or modification projects.
- Carry out welding and electrical work in accordance with safety standards.
- Maintain detailed records of work completed and parts used for each vehicle.
- Assist with the assembly of vehicle components during repair or upgrade projects.
- Operate heavy machinery such as excavators or forklifts when required for maintenance tasks.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance schedules.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, including heavy lifting procedures.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in vehicle maintenance, preferably specialising in HGVs or similar large vehicles.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience is highly desirable.
- Skilled in fabrication, welding, soldering, and reading schematics.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and equipment repair techniques.
- Experience working with heavy machinery such as excavators or forklifts is advantageous.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Good communication skills with a focus on customer service.

Pay: £17.00-£20.00 per hour
