Nursery Kitchen Assistant role
As a Nursery Kitchen Assistant your role will be to assist and support the Nursery Chef in the day to day running of the Nursery Kitchen, during the busiest hours of the day (10.00am - 3.00pm). Our level 5 rated Nursery Kitchen provides children, aged 0-4 years old, and staff across two sites with healthy and nutritious snacks and meals while adhering to Food Standards Agency requirements.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Basic preparation of snacks and non-allergy ingredients for meals, following food hygiene regulations Ensuring the kitchen is clean and tidy following Nursery policies and procedures Washing pots, pans, dishes, and kitchen equipment, using a combination of an industrial dishwasher and hand washing Transporting food to the Nursery’s second building using a hot box system and supporting the Team to dish out meals Supporting the Nursery Chef with stock organisation
Person specification
We are looking for someone friendly and hardworking to join our Team, someone who has a passion for children’s health and nutrition and enjoys working amongst children in a busy Nursery setting. You must be open to working within a stimulating wider environment while focused within the Kitchen in a small team. Our busy Nursery Kitchen requires someone with strong communication skills who can follow direction but also use their initiative.
Qualifications
- Food Hygiene Level 1 or 2 (desirable) Allergy awareness training (desirable)
Must be willing to complete both of the above
- Undergo an enhanced DBS check

Pay: From £12.71 per hour
