Overview
We are seeking a proactive and organised Conveyancing Assistant to join our busy and friendly property team on a part-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to build or develop a career within a professional and supportive legal environment. Full training will be provided.
The successful candidate will provide essential administrative and legal support to our solicitors and conveyancers, helping to ensure the smooth progression of residential property transactions from instruction through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist solicitors and conveyancers with the preparation, management and organisation of conveyancing files.
- Prepare and process legal documentation relating to residential property transactions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client files and case management records.
- Liaise with clients, estate agents, mortgage brokers, lenders and other third parties to obtain information and progress transactions.
- Conduct property searches as required.
- Prepare and submit Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) returns.
- Monitor key dates and deadlines to ensure matters progress efficiently.
- Arrange appointments, meetings and diary commitments for fee earners.
- Ensure strict confidentiality and compliance with data protection requirements.
- Provide general administrative support, including filing, photocopying, scanning and data entry.
Skills and ExperienceEssential
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a conveyancing or similar legal administrative role.
- Experience using the LEAP case management system.
- Knowledge of residential conveyancing procedures.
- Experience preparing and submitting SDLT returns.

Hours
- Part-time position: 21 hours per week (3 days per week).
- Additional overtime may be available from time to time depending on business needs.
