Class 1 (C+E) HGV Driver
Location: Chorley (Wigan Lane Depot)
Salary: £16.30 per hour (£16.71 ONCE PERM AFTER 12 WEEKS ) + £26.20 Night Out Allowance
Hours: Guaranteed 50 Hours Per Week + Overtime Available
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Class 1 (C+E) HGV Driver to join a leading supplier of engineered timber products, delivering roof trusses, flooring systems and related construction products to sites nationwide.
This is a 12 WEEK TEMP TO PERM , full-time position offering excellent earning potential, stable Monday to Friday work and a great work-life balance, with no Bank Holiday working and an extended Christmas/New Year shutdown in line with building site closures.
The Role
- Deliver engineered timber products including roof trusses and flooring systems to construction sites and housing developments across the UK.
- Secure and transport loads safely and professionally.
- Check loaded vehicles against delivery paperwork before departure.
- Measure and record vehicle height prior to leaving site.
- Manage the safe offloading of products at customer locations.
- Complete all relevant paperwork and vehicle checks.
- Return to depot and prepare for the next day's work.
Most deliveries involve between one and three drops per route, although this can vary depending on operational requirements.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday.
- Typical start times between 04:00 and 06:00, although later starts may occasionally be required.
- Guaranteed 50 hours per week.
- Regular overtime available.
- Voluntary Saturday work available when required.
- Regular nights out are required due to nationwide deliveries (this is not currently a full tramper role).

Training & Development
Due to the specialist nature of the products being delivered, successful candidates will complete a comprehensive minimum two-week training programme alongside an experienced Driver Trainer. This will cover safe loading, transport and offloading procedures for a variety of engineered timber products.
All candidates must successfully complete a driving assessment before progressing to training.

Essential Requirements
- Valid Class 1 (C+E) Licence.
- Valid CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
- Ideally 2+ years' Class 1 driving experience (flexibility may be considered for the right candidate).
- Ability and willingness to complete regular nights out.
- Strong understanding of driver hours and road transport legislation.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Professional, reliable and safety-focused attitude.
