Liberty Guard, part of the Liberty Group, has over 40 years’ experience supplying portable buildings and welfare units across the UK. We pride ourselves on providing reliable equipment, great service, and practical solutions for our customers — and that starts with having the right people on the ground.
We’re looking for a hands-on Field Service Engineer to help keep our fleet of welfare units in top condition.
This is a field-based role, so you’ll spend most of your time out on the road, with our sister depot based in Dartford. You’re trusted to work independently, but you’re never truly on your own — there’s always someone on the end of the phone if you need backup, advice, or just a second opinion.
The role is very much an all‑rounder, part engineer, part fixer, and occasionally a bit of a handyman. One day you might be dealing with basic electrical or plumbing repairs, the next you’ll be fault‑finding generator issues or carrying out regular servicing to keep everything running smoothly.
Most of the fleet you’ll be working on is mobile welfare accommodation, with a small number of static units mixed in — enough variety to keep the job interesting without it ever feeling repetitive.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on welfare units
- Diagnose and repair generator faults and complete generator servicing
- Undertake basic electrical and plumbing works as required
- Attend breakdowns and respond to urgent repair issues on site
- Complete inspections and identify potential problems before they become serious
- Work closely with the operations team to plan and prioritise jobs
- Accurately record all work completed, parts used, and issues identified
- Always work safely and in line with health & safety requirements
What We’re Looking For
- Experience servicing welfare units or similar plant/equipment
- Good working knowledge of basic electrics, plumbing, and mechanical systems
- Confident fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- A practical, can‑do attitude and pride in doing a job properly
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
What We Offer
- Competitive salary with overtime available (including weekends)
- Company vehicle for work use only
- A varied role with plenty of independence
- Supportive team and opportunities to develop
