Job Purpose
This role is required to assist with the administration, development and training on the department's business critical systems, which are vital to the running and operation of the department and also for the delivery of projects and prioritised work within the team and core systems; such as critical end-of-year processes, major system upgrades and to ensure compliance with statutory, legislative and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining and reconciling all data transfer between systems, ensuring all data is updated and accurate before the Period and Year end processes are carried out within the corporate timetable with the minimum disruption to users
- Assist on all of the department's requirements and ensure the department's systems operate effectively for the business needs
- Ensure we support internal and external processes and support the process of customer orientation and customer care within the service, ensuring that customers' views are built into service planning, delivery and performance
- Provide front-line support and training to systems users in the department and assist in providing systems training as necessary
- Assist with the support and maintenance of our systems, whilst promoting smarter ways of working and delivering digital transformation to our operational and support services in line with the software available to demonstrate the department's commitment to providing a more efficient way of working for all our workforce and to enable us to have live data across our services
- Undertake investigations, feasibility studies, analysis, design, programming, component testing, system integration testing, and installation to achieve timely and within budget support and implementation of systems across a wide range of technologies
- To provide analysis and reporting of applications requirements and to consult, advise and forward plan to ensure robust and resilient delivery of the department's business critical and business operational systems
- Implementation and development of new system comprehensive specification evaluation and thorough testing prior to implementation ensuring the continued integrity, both operational and financial
- To keep abreast of latest developments in the field of IT and provide recommendations and contribute to the relevant project groups/departmental groups to provide innovative and diverse solutions and ensure effective and ongoing communication to deliver identified outcomes including any key areas of risk
