Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and physically capable Yard Assistant to join our team. This role involves supporting yard operations, handling materials, and assisting with logistical tasks within a yard environment. The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth movement of goods and maintaining safety standards across the site. Prior warehouse or construction experience, as well as mechanical knowledge, will be advantageous. Responsibilities
- Assisting with the loading and unloading of goods using forklifts and manual handling techniques
- Managing stock levels through accurate stocking, picking, and packing activities
- Supporting shipping and receiving processes to ensure timely dispatch and receipt of materials
- Moving materials efficiently within the yard, including heavy lifting where necessary
- Maintaining organisation and cleanliness of the yard area to promote safety and efficiency
- Supporting construction-related activities as required, including material delivery and site organisation
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations at all times
Qualifications
- Previous experience in warehousing, construction, or logistics environments is highly desirable
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of materials handling techniques
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively over extended periods
- Knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures and stock management processes
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in stock control and documentation
- Physical fitness to handle demanding tasks within a busy yard setting
- A proactive attitude towards safety protocols and teamwork
