Part Qualified Accountant

About the role
This is a great opportunity for a part-qualified accountant to take the next step in their career within a structured, client-facing practice environment. Sitting above bookkeeping within the delivery team, you'll prepare management accounts for a portfolio of clients, support month-end and year-end processes, and contribute to high-quality financial reporting outputs — all while continuing to progress towards full qualification.
What you'll be doing

Preparing monthly and quarterly management accounts for a portfolio of clients to a draft-ready standard, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and variance commentary

Performing month-end close procedures, including prepayments, accruals, depreciation, and intercompany adjustments

Reviewing bookkeeping outputs completed by junior team members and providing constructive feedback

Preparing and submitting VAT returns accurately and in compliance with Making Tax Digital requirements

Supporting year-end preparation, including schedules and working papers for statutory accounts and audit readiness

Assisting with new client onboarding, including chart of accounts setup, data migration checks, and Xero configuration

Liaising directly with clients to explain management accounts outputs, variances, and financial performance

Maintaining accurate records within Karbon and the team's document management systems

Actively engaging with training and development activities in support of ongoing qualification progress
What you'll bring
-
Minimum five years' experience in an accounting, finance, or practice environment

Demonstrable experience preparing or contributing to management accounts

Solid grounding in double-entry accounting, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations

Working knowledge of VAT, including standard, flat rate, and cash accounting schemes

Proficiency in Xero; experience with Dext, Karbon, or Silverfin is an advantage

Currently studying towards AAT Level 4, ACA, or ACCA (part-qualified)

AAT Level 3 completed or in progress

Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a varied client portfolio to deadline

Clear, confident communication skills for client-facing work
Desirable

AAT Level 4 completed or near completion

ACA/ACCA student registered with a recognised body

Experience in an outsourced or multi-client environment

Awareness of FRS 102 reporting requirements
