Roots Allotments is expanding one of its sites near Stoke-on-Trent, and we're looking for a few casual labourers to help build new allotment patches for a day next week.
The work
Straightforward outdoor groundwork, mainly raking and spreading compost to prepare new patches. A telehandler handles the heavy lifting, but you'll be on your feet and working outdoors for the full day, so a reasonable level of fitness is needed. No previous experience required — just a willingness to get stuck in.
Details
- Location: Blithe Meadows, Stoke-on-Trent (best reached by car or bike)
- Hours: 9am to 5pm, including a paid 30-minute break
- Pay: £13.00 per hour, paid by bank transfer
- One build day next week (Thursday or Saturday — we'll confirm the date with you)
Please note
This is casual, self-employed work — you'll be responsible for your own tax and National Insurance, and there's no guaranteed ongoing work, so it's ideal alongside other jobs or studies.
