Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced School Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for students in a safe and hygienic environment. Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals suitable for school-aged children, ensuring nutritional standards are met
- Plan menus in accordance with dietary guidelines and school policies
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including sanitising surfaces and equipment
- Manage food inventory, including ordering supplies and checking stock levels
- Serve meals to students in an efficient and friendly manner
- Follow all food safety regulations and hygiene practices at all times
- Assist with special dietary requirements or allergies as needed
- Collaborate with school staff to ensure timely meal service during designated break times
- Support the training of new kitchen staff or volunteers as required
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, preferably within a school, restaurant, or catering environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Experience with meal preparation for large groups of people
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods
- Good communication skills to work collaboratively with staff and students
- Culinary experience or relevant qualifications in catering or hospitality are desirable
- Previous experience serving food in a professional setting is advantageous
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety
Pay: £13.50-£14.00 per hour
