Store Assistant / Food-to-Go Team Member

Job Summary
We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Store Assistant to join our team at SPAR Market. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service, maintaining store standards, and supporting our Food-to-Go operation by preparing fresh, high-quality food products.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide friendly, professional, and efficient customer service at all times.
- Operate tills and handle customer transactions accurately.
- Replenish shelves and ensure products are well-stocked and attractively displayed.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety throughout the store.
- Assist with stock deliveries, stock rotation, and inventory control.
- Prepare and produce fresh Food-to-Go products in line with company recipes and quality standards.
- Work within the kitchen and food preparation areas, ensuring all food is prepared safely and efficiently.
- Monitor food quality, freshness, and presentation to ensure an excellent customer experience.
- Follow all HACCP, food safety, and health & safety procedures.
- Assist with reducing waste through proper stock management and food handling practices.
- Support colleagues across different departments as required to ensure smooth store operations.
- Previous experience in a retail store, convenience store, supermarket, food service, café, deli, bakery, or kitchen environment would be a significant advantage.
Skills & Experience
- Experience preparing, handling, or serving food products is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of food hygiene, food safety, and HACCP procedures would be beneficial.
- Previous customer service experience with the ability to engage confidently and professionally with customers.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail and food production environment.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn new skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays when required.
- Relevant food hygiene certifications are advantageous but not essential, as training can be provided.
